Fifth Palliative Wound Care Conference

  • Date: May 14-16, 2015
  • City: Orlando, Florida
  • Venue: Doubletree by Hilton Downtown

A wonderful time was had in Orlando, Florida for the 5th conference. Unfortunately attendance was lower than anticipated, thus funding was also in low supply. We are not planning a 6th conference at this time, maybe in the future.

Past Events

Talk Show - WDBZ 1230AM with Lincoln Ware

Our 4 monthly shows were a big success, with lots of good feedback and many people seeking help for their diabetic neuropathy or wounds. More shows are planned if and when we get funding.

Conference - 4th Annual Palliative Wound Care Conference May 2013

What a wonderful time we had in Indianapolis in mid-May at the 4th Annual Palliative Wound Care Conference. 150 people from as far away as Turkey were there for 2 ½ days to learn and share about palliative wound care. We had two full days, Thursday and Friday, with high quality excellent lectures. Dr. Bruce Chamberlain’s lecture on dealing with pain and suffering with wounds was exceptional, challenging and very helpful and encouraging.

Attendees totaling 153 from 3 countries (US, Canada and England), and over 45 states (including Alaska and Hawaii), were at this conference. The conference was well-received with excellent feedback. We are planning another conference next year, just a little larger. Feedback from our thirteen exhibitors and sponsors was very positive and all have indicated they would want to exhibit again. Information was shared by 15 faculty on skin changes at life’s end, pain management, maggot therapy, fistula management, foot wounds and osteomyelitis, support surfaces, legal issues, cost-effective care, alternative care and palliative wound care.

We are planning another conference next year, just a little larger. Information was shared on skin changes at life’s end, pain management, maggot therapy, surgical and vascular interventions, support surfaces, legal issues, alternative care and palliative wound care.

Foot Screening - The Black Family Reunion in Cincinnati Aug 2011

A successful screening event was held at the Black Family Reunion on Saturday and Sunday, Aug 20 and 21. A total of 117 people were screened. We did lots of counseling and some referrals to specialists. Overall a fun and worthwhile event.

A very successful two days of foot screening. We screened 163 people, gave self-screening information to over 90 people and talked to another 20 or more people who just wanted information.
