The Hope of Healing Foundation® was started by three Cincinnati physicians who work daily with patients suffering from wounds and facing possible limb amputation. The fear, pain and hopelessness these physicians see can be successfully addressed, but the education and outreach needs are large in order to serve more people and bring the message of hope to those in need. The Hope of Healing Foundation® is the way this group of physicians, with several of their patients who were saved from amputation, has chosen to help meet these needs. The Foundation is dedicated to limb salvage and wound healing, fighting against all odds to bring hope. The mission of this foundation is education and advocacy for amputation prevention and wound healing. A lower extremity amputation occurs every 6 minutes in this country, and Hamilton County is no exception. This epidemic of horror needs to be halted and can be through education about prevention and advocacy of practices that promote wound healing, both with the public and with healthcare professionals. The goal and mission of the Hope of Healing Foundation® is to bring hope, independence, and a better life to people facing wounds and amputation. This can be realized through compassionate and evidence-based wound healing and limb salvage practices.
